Where people go wrong when using salons

23/06/2022

It’s always strange to me when clients believe all salons are identical. It’s so important to know which salon specialises in what service. For example, you probably won’t be able to have a relaxer done with a salon that only works with locs. This may seem obvious, but to so many they have made the mistake of going to the wrong salon for their services then blaming salons overall for the incorrect service which they have received.

Let's break it down!

  • A colourist is someone who specialises in colouring hair.

  • Braidist is someone who predominantly deals with braiding hair.

  • A hairstylist is someone who provides most general services but doesn't mainly specialise in one area of hairdressing.

  • Haircare is someone who has developed the skills to care for the hair regardless of what service they provide.

  • A Loc technician is someone who exclusively specialises with locs.

  • Wig specialist… Well, it's kind of self-explanatory. They primarily specialise in making and styling wigs.

If you want colour then your best bet is to visit a salon that specialises in colouring hair, don't try and get your braidist to colour your hair! That's not what they do. You aren't saving money by having a service that you hate.

These issues can be avoided by doing your research and finding the best salon for your desired service.

Much love,

Morells
